The Toronto Maple Leafs are awaiting the news on a pair of regulars who could be back in the lineup as early as Sunday, when they play the Ducks in Anaheim.
Defenceman Carl Gunnarsson and centre David Steckel, both injured in Friday's shootout win over the Dallas Stars, are awaiting the results of their x-rays. Both were absent from practice Saturday.
Gunnarsson and Steckel both left in the second period of Friday's game with what appeared to be left hand injuries. Leafs head coach Ron Wilson said the injuries are not serious, adding that both will be game time decisions by Sunday.
Gunnarsson has six points in 23 games with the Leafs this season, while Steckel, the team's top faceoff man and key part of their penalty kill unit, has four goals in 23 games this year.
Two other players, defencemen Dion Phaneuf and John-Michael Liles were also absent from Saturday's practice, though both are expected to play next game.
