New York, NY (Sports Network) - Colorado Avalanche left wing Gabriel Landeskog has been selected as the NHL's best rookie for the month of February.

Landeskog, the second pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, led all players of his ilk in scoring with 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 12 games. No other rookie produced more than nine points last month.

The 19-year-old Swede has emerged as the frontrunner for the Calder Trophy as the league's top freshman. He is tied for first among rookies with 18 goals and ranks second with 40 points while leading with a plus-21 rating.
