Ottawa Senators forward Daniel Alfredsson did not travel with the team to New York for Game 5 of their Eastern Conference quarter-final series, but the team captain made progress back home.
While he did not participate in the team's practice in Ottawa on Friday, Alfredsson did take to the ice Saturday morning.
Alfredsson suffered a concussion after being hit by Rangers forward Carl Hagelin in Game 2 of the series and has yet to return to the lineup.
Hagelin, who was assessed a five-minute major penalty for elbowing on the play, was suspended for three games for the incident. He will be eligible to return for Monday's Game 6 in Ottawa.
The Senators and Rangers resume their series this evening from New York; the series tied 2-2.
