Nikita Filatov has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with Salavat Yulaev of the KHL.
The former Blue Jackets draft pick and Senators forward started this season with Ottawa, but was a big disappointment at the NHL level. Rather than work on his game with the Binghamton Senators in the American Hockey League, Filatov was allowed to go to Russia where he played for CSKA the remainder of the season.
The former sixth overall selection of the Blue Jackets in 2008 played in 53 games over parts of four seasons in the NHL, amassing six goals and eight assists. With CSKA this season, he had four goals and four assists in 18 games.
The 21-year-old Filatov is a restricted free agent on July 1 and the Senators would have to give him a qualifying offer to retain his rights.
