The Chicago Blackhawks signed defenceman Johnny Oduya to a three-year contract worth $10.125 million on Tuesday.

The deal is worth an average of $3.375 million per season.

Oduya, 30, was acquired by the Blackhawks from the Winnipeg Jets on Feb. 27 at the NHL trade deadline in exchange for two picks in the 2013 Draft. In 81 games played with the two clubs last season, Oduya had three goals and 15 assists.

The native of Stockholm, Sweden began his career with the New Jersey Devils and also played for the Atlanta Thrashers before they moved to Winnipeg.

The Blackhawks also finalized a one-year deal on Tuesday with forward Jamal Mayers worth $650,000. The 37-year-old veteran had six goals and nine assists in 81 games for Chicago last season.
