The Colorado Avalanche signed restricted free agent defenceman Erik Johnson to a four-year, $15 million contract on Tuesday.
Johnson, 24, scored four goals and 22 assists in 73 games with the Avs in 2011-12.
Originally selected first overall in the 2006 Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues, the Avs acquired Johnson via trade prior to the 2011 trade deadline. Johnson has scored 27 goals and 100 assists in 298 career NHL games with the Blues and Avalanche.
