Flames invite forward Begin to training camp

The Calgary Flames have invited veteran forward Steve Begin to training camp on a professional tryout.

Begin, who missed all of last season due to hip surgery, returns to the team that drafted him back in 1996. He played 123 games with the Flames, scoring 11 goals and 18 points with 192 penalty minutes.

Begin has played 488 career NHL games with the Flames, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars and Boston Bruins

He split the 2010-11 season between the Nashville Predators and their AHL affiliate the Milwaukee Admirals.
