The Montreal Canadiens announced Friday that the club has given a contract extension to Trevor Timmins as director of amateur scouting and have hired former Hab Donald Audette as amateur scout in Quebec.

Timmins, entering his 12th season with the Canadiens, is responsible for overseeing and directing the Canadiens' amateur scouting system, including the NHL Draft.

"The Montreal Canadiens organization is very proud of the work that Trevor Timmins has done in terms of player scouting and development over his time with the team and we are very happy to count on his services for years to come," general manager Marc Bergevin said in a statement.

"We agree with Trevor and his group on the necessity of adding an amateur scout in Quebec, and we are pleased to welcome Donald Audette, who will now occupy this position for the team."

Under Timmins's watch, the Canadiens drafted many notable players such as Chris Higgins, Andrei Kostitsyn, Carey Price, Max Pacioretty and P.K. Subban.

Timmins worked with the Ottawa Senators from 1992 through the 2001-02 season. From 1999 to 2002, he was the team's Director of Hockey Operations.

Audette played 15 years in the NHL, including three with the Canadiens from 2001 to 2004. He played 735 career games totaling 509 points.

The club also announced the hiring of Mark Mowers as a pro scout. He suited up in 278 career NHL games for Nashville, Detroit, Boston and Anaheim. Mowers retired from hockey after the 2010-11 season, as a member of Fribourg-Gotteron of the Swiss National League.
