Alex Ovechkin is reportedly joining the growing number of players who are heading overseas and back home to play during the NHL lockout.
According to the Russian newspaper Sport-Express, the Washington Capitals captain will play with Dynamo Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League.
Ovechkin, who turned 27 on Monday, also played for Dynamo from 2001-05. He was rumoured to also be in talks last week to play for CSKA Moscow during the lockout.
The Russian star was born in Moscow. He had 38 goals and 27 assists in 78 games for the Capitals last season.
Ovechkin joins fellow NHL stars Evgeni Malkin, Pavel Datsyuk, Sergei Gonchar, Ilya Kovalchuk, and rookie Nail Yakupov in the KHL.
