According to a report in Swedish news outlet SVT Sport, Washington Capitals centre Nicklas Backstrom has agreed to join the KHL's Dynamo Moscow.

Backstrom will reportedly fly to Russia Thursday evening to join teammate Alex Ovechkin, who signed with the club on September 19.

"I want to play hockey and this will be a fun challenge," Backstrom told SVT sport.

The 24-year-old Backstrom becomes the fifth Capitals player to head overseas during the NHL's lockout, joining Ovechkin, Wojtek Wolski, Michal Neuvirth and Brooks Laich.
