Despite doing well at training camp, Washington Capitals 2012 first round draft pick Tom Wilson is heading back to the OHL.

General manager George McPhee announced on Wednesday that Wilson would return to the Plymouth Whalers.

The 18-year old, who was taken with the 16th overall pick in June, is the second Capitals first rounder from 2012 who won't suit up with the team in the lockout shortened season.  In July, the club sent 11th overall pick Filip Forsberg return to Sweden for the season.

Forsberg played for the silver medal winning Swedish at the World Junior Championship, where he recorded five points in six games on route to being named to the tournament All-Star team.
