The Los Angeles Kings have acquired defenceman Keaton Ellerby from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a fifth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

The 24-year-old blue-liner has 17 points and 70 penalty minutes in 125 NHL games over four seasons, all spent with the Panthers.

The Strathmore, Alberta native was selected by the Panthers 10th overall in the first round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

In nine games this season, Ellerby has no points and 36 penalty minutes.

The Kings also announced that they have assigned defenceman Andrew Campbell to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League.
