The last time Michael Ryder took part in a Montreal Canadiens practice was back in 2008. Many things have changed since he left but one of the most notable changes is the Canadiens' practice facility in Brossard. The facility was in the process of being built last time Ryder wore the Habs jersey.

"I got off the ice and I couldn't find the dressing room. It's going to take me a few days to find the ins and outs of this place," Ryder said after Friday's practice.

As the team was given the day off Thursday, this was the first opportunity for the Newfoundland native to get practice time with his new teammates. Head coach Michel Therrien decided to keep him on a line with Alex Galchenyuk and Lars Eller, who he played with on Wednesday night in Toronto.

In addition, Ryder was working on the man-advantage with Brian Gionta and Tomas PlekanecBrendan Gallagher joked earlier this week that a Rolex watch would be a nice way for Ryder to thank him for giving him his number 73; the number Ryder has worn throughout his career. Today, Gallagher, who now wears number 11, said that he is a simple guy and would settle for a sandwich.

Another familiar face that returned to practice on Friday was Petteri Nokelainen. He joined his teammates for the first time this season after being out with a back injury he suffered during the off-season. He has been cleared for practice but has not been cleared to play just yet. The Canadiens had no update on Rene Bourque or Raphael Diaz. Both players are out with concussions and the team has no timeline for their return.
