Stars' Morrow waives no-trade clause to join Penguins

Dallas Stars forward Brenden Morrow has waived his no-trade clause to help his team complete a trade with Pittsburgh that sees the veteran sent to the Penguins.

The Penguins also receive a third-round draft pick in 2013 in exchange for prospect defenceman Joe Morrow and a fifth-round pick in 2013.

Scoring six goals and five assists in 29 games this season; Brenden Morrow is currently in the final year of his six-year contract worth an annual average value of $4.1 million.

He has spent his entire 12-year career with the Stars. In 835 career games he has 243 goals and 285 assists.

A member of Canada' Olympic Gold Medal-winning team in 2010, Brenden Morrow also has 78 career playoff games under his belt. He has 17 goals and 25 assists in the post-season.

He was originally selected by Dallas in the first round (25th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.

Joe Morrow is playing with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the America Hockey League, where he has recorded four goals and 11 assists through 57 games this season.

The 20-year-old native of Edmonton was drafted by the Penguins in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
