Lightning's Thompson suspended two games for hit to the head

The National Hockey League has suspended Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nate Thompson two games for an illegal hit on New Jersey Devils forward Matt D'Agostini.

Thompson was given two games for "recklessly targeting the head" on the hit.

D'Agostini had his head down prior to contact from Thompson. He was not injure don the play and later returned to the game.

Thompson has no prior history of discipline from the League, including neither fines nor suspensions.
