The Montreal Canadiens and goaltender Peter Budaj have agreed to a two-year, $2.8 million contract extension.

Budaj played eight games with the Canadiens this season, recording a 6-1-1 record with a 2.28 goals against average and .917 save percentage and one shutout.

The 30-year-old Slovak will get the start in goal Thursday night when the Canadiens visit the Buffalo Sabres.

Budaj joined the Canadiens organization as a free agent on July 1, 2011. He was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2nd round (63rd overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
