Jonathan Toews left the Chicago Blackhawks' Sunday afternoon game against the St. Louis Blues mid-way through the first period.

The Hawks' captain took a hit from St. Louis Blues captain David Backes. He headed to the dressing room immediately afterward and missed the remainder of the first period.

He would return to the ice for the opening face-off of the second period.

Backes was not assessed a penalty on the play.

Toews has scored 20 goals and 21 assists in 40 games for the first-place Blackhawks thus far in 2012-13.
