If the Winnipeg Jets' quest for the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs is successful it will likely have to be without forward Kyle Wellwood.

The 29-year-old forward left the Jets Monday night game against the Buffalo Sabres in the second period with a hand injury and did not return.

After the game Jets' coach Claude Noel confirmed that Wellwood would be out long term.

Wellwood has scored six goals and nine assists in 39 games with the Jets in 2013.
