Head coach Michel Therrien plans to have captain Brian Gionta in the lineup on Thursday when the Montreal Canadiens host the Ottawa Senators at the Bell Centre for their final preseason game.
Gionta, who's recovering from surgery on his left bicep and will not play on Wednesday in Ottawa in the first of back-to-back games, skated on a regular line on Tuesday morning with Tomas Plekanec and Rene Bourque.
Therrien added that winger George Parros, who had offseason rotator cuff surgery, will not be playing in either of the team's last two preseason games.
Forward Brandon Prust was absent at practice on Tuesday, taking a therapy day after Montreal's 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on Monday night. Forwards Gabriel Dumont, Nick Tarnasky and Martin St. Pierre, along with blueliners Greg Pateryn and Magnus Nygren did not practice on Tuesday morning, while Nathan Beaulieu, Darren Dietz, Michael Blunden and Patrick Holland did take part on the main pad of ice.
