Oilers assign first-round pick Nurse back to OHL

Darnell Nurse will be further developing his hockey career in junior this season, as the Edmonton Oilers announced late Tuesday night that the blueliner has been returned to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League.

Nurse played his last preseason game on Tuesday - a 5-3 win over the New York Rangers that saw him earn an assist over 20 minutes of ice time.

The son of former CFL wide receiver Richard Nurse and nephew of former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb was takend seventh overall by the Oilers in June and was the second defenceman taken - behind Seth Jones who went fourth overall to the Nashville Predators.

Nurse had 12 goals and 29 assists for the Greyhounds last season and is expected to challenge for a spot on Team Canada this December at the World Junior Hockey Championship.
