Montreal Canadiens defenceman Douglas Murray is out 4-6 weeks with an upper-body injury.

Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien said Murray suffered the injury in Sunday's practice. He was trying to come back from a lower-body injury that had kept him out of practice for almost two weeks.

Therrien said the team doesn't plan to call up any defencemen because of their light schedule until their Western swing next week.

He signed a one-year, $1.5 million with the Canadiens as a free agent in August.
