TORONTO - Rookie defenceman Morgan Rielly was paired with Jake Gardiner at Maple Leaf practice Friday.

With Mark Fraser placed on injured reserve with a knee injury, Rielly is expected to see his first action of the season Saturday in Toronto's home opener against the Ottawa Senators.

Fraser was hurt in Wednesday's win in Philadelphia.

The other defensive pairings Friday had captain Dion Phaneuf with Carl Gunnarsson and Paul Ranger with Cody Franson.

Leafs coach Randy Carlyle has a decision to make in goal, with both James Reimer and Jonathan Bernier performing well in the first two games.
