The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Monday that it had issued a fine of $2756.41 to Los Angeles Kings forward Kyle Clifford for a knee in Sunday night's game against the Edmonton Oilers.

In the first period of Sunday night's game, Clifford kneed Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. No penalty was assessed on the play.

The money from the fine, the highest amount allowed under the CBA, will be sent to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

In 11 games this season, the 22-year-old native of Ayr, Ontario has one goal.
