The Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed Corey Tropp off waivers from the Buffalo Sabres.
The 24-year-old right winger has one assist in nine games this season with the Sabres. In his career, he has three goals and six assists in 43 NHL games.
Tropp was drafted in the third round, 89th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
He is a native of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI and played three years with Michigan State University before turning pro.
The Blue Jackets also placed forward Derek MacKenzie on injured reserve due to a back strain. The move is retroactive to Nov. 22.
He has two goals and an assist in 22 games this season.
