The Colorado Avalanche have signed defenceman Nate Guenin to a two-year contract extension.
The Denver Post reports that the deal is worth $750,000 in the first season and $850,000 in the second.
Guenin, 31, has four assists and a team-high 86 blocked shots in 38 games with the Avalanche this season.
"Nate has been very consistent during the first half of the season," Avalanche executive vice president of hockey operations Joe Sakic said in a statement. "He has been a reliable member of our defense and we are pleased to have him under contract for the next couple of years."
Guenin would have become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
