The Colorado Avalanche's push for home ice in the Stanley Cup Playoffs has taken a hit.

Avalanche forward Matt Duchene left the team's game against the San Jose Sharks in the first period after a collision with teammate Jamie McGinn.

Denver Post reporter Adrian Dater said on Twitter that the 23-year-old suffered a knee injury. He did not return to the ice.

With their 3-2 victory over the Sharks, the Avalanche moved one point ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks in the Central Division. They have a game in-hand over the defending Cup champions.

Duchene has scored 23 goals and added 47 assists for 70 points in as many games this season.
