The Tampa Bay Lightning signed forward Ondrej Palat to a three-year contract extension on Monday.

Palat scored 23 goals and led all Lightning players with 59 points while appearing in 81 games this season. He was also named a finalist for the Calder Trophy, awarded to the NHL's top rookie.

In three playoff games, Palat scored two goals and added one assist.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, Palat's deal is worth $10 million, broken down as $2.8 million next season, then $3.2 million the following year and $4 million in the final year of the contract.

The 23-year-old was drafted by the Lightning in the seventh round, 208th overall, of the 2011 NHL Draft.
