The Winnipeg Jets re-signed right winger Chris Thorburn to a three-year, $3.6 million deal on Monday night.

Thorburn was set to become an unrestricted free agent at noon on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. just completed his seventh season with the Jets organization. In 55 games last year, Thorburn amassed two goals and nine assists.

Thorburn was originally drafted 50th-overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2001 NHL Draft, Thorburn spent time with the Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins before a deal to the then Atlanta Thrashers at the 2007 NHL Draft. He was at the end of a three-year deal worth $867,000 per season.

In 55 games last season with the Jets, the Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. native produced two goals, 11 points and 93 penalty minutes.

Thorburn was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in 2001 and has spent the past seven seasons with Winnipeg — including four seasons in Atlanta with the Thrashers.
