Flames sign Engelland to three-year, $8.7M deal

The Calgary Flames have signed defenceman Deryk Engelland to a three-year deal worth an average annual value of $2.9 million.

In 56 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2013-14, Engelland scored six goals and six assists, racking up 58 penalty minutes.

Engelland has appeared in 243 career games with the Penguins, scoring 13 goals and 34 assists with 308 penalty minutes. He was originally drafted in the sixth round (194th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
