LIVERPOOL, England — Oumar Niasse came off the bench to be Everton's unlikely match-winner on Saturday, scoring twice to beat Bournemouth 2-1 and end his team's run of four straight losses in the English Premier League.

The Senegal striker scored in the 77th and 82nd minutes at Goodison Park after coming on as a second-half substitute for Wayne Rooney, who needed treatment in the first half after an elbow in the face left him with blood pouring from a cut.

Niasse hadn't been named in an Everton matchday squad since May last year — and finished last season without his own locker at the training ground — before he was given a call-up for Wednesday's League Cup match against Sunderland. He scored as a substitute then, too, and could be the answer to Everton's problems in attack.

Ronald Koeman's team lost its previous three league matches without scoring.

Bournemouth took the lead through Josh King in the 49th minute.
