College Park, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Melo Trimble scored 11 of his 26 points in the final 3:41 to lift the 16th-ranked Maryland Terrapins over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 69-65, on Thursday.

Trimble, who went 7-of-9 from the field, also had six rebounds and five assists for the Terrapins (22-5, 10-4 Big Ten), who have won three in a row. Jake Layman and Dez Wells tallied 14 points apiece.

Walter Pitchford made five 3-pointers en route to 19 points for the Cornhuskers (13-13, 5-9), who have dropped four straight. Shavon Shields and Nick Fuller contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively, while leading scorer Terran Petteway shot just 2-for-14 from the floor but contributed a career- high nine assists.

"We just couldn't get him [Petteway] a clean look at the rim," said Nebraska coach Tim Miles. "He had a couple of good looks from three that just didn't go. I just thought team-wise they did a nice job of knowing where he's at and then when he did get by someone, they flowed to him well."

With the score tied 54-54, Maryland went on an 8-0 run. Wells made two free throws and Trimble added two 3-pointers to make it 62-54 with 2:18 to play.

"I think with our fans being there and them being into the game as well as us being zoned in helps us a lot especially going down the stretch of the game," said Trimble.

Pitchford scored Nebraska's next eight points to cut the gap to 65-62 with 28.9 seconds left. Benny Parker stole the ensuing inbounds pass before turning the ball over himself.

Trimble and Layman each made a pair of free throws around Pitchford's missed 3-pointer, giving the Terrapins a 69-62 lead. Fuller connected from beyond the arc to account for the final margin.

Trailing 32-21, the Cornhuskers ended the first half on a 12-2 spurt to get within 34-33.

Maryland built a 49-42 margin with 11:29 to play, but Nebraska scored the next six points.
