Craig MacTavish may be sticking around behind the Edmonton Oilers bench for a little bit longer.

MacTavish announced that he would be joining new head coach Todd Nelson on a transitional basis after Dallas Eakins was fired on December 15. The original plan was for the partnership to finish for Saturday's game against Calgary, however TSN’s Ryan Rishaug says that MacTavish is likely to stay for the time being, with no timetable set for Nelson to fully take over head coaching duties.

Edmonton is 0-3-1 since the coaching change and is mired in an eight-game losing streak.
