Las Vegas oddsmakers like the Boston Red Sox move to sign free-agent pitcher David Price. Just not enough to make them favourites to win next year’s World Series.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros are 10-1 at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. The Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Red Sox, and San Francisco Giants are each 12-1.

Roughly a month ago, on Nov. 2., the Dodgers were alone at 8-1, the Westgate said. At the time the Red Sox were 18-1.

The Toronto Blue Jays’ moves so far this offseason, signing free agent pitcher J.A. Happ and re-signing pitcher Marco Estrada, do not seem to have resonated with oddsmakers. The Blue Jays, St. Louis Cardinals and World Series champion Kansas City Royals are 14-1. A month ago, the Jays were 10-1.

The Detroit Tigers, who this week signed free agent pitcher Jordan Zimmerman, are 20-1, unchanged from a month ago.

The Philadelphia Phillies, who won 63 games in 2015, worst in Major League Baseball, are listed at 300-1, making them the biggest long shots to win the World Series.

The Westgate said the Astros are 5-1 favourites to win the American League, ahead of the Rangers and Red Sox, both 6-1, and Blue Jays and Royals, both 7-1.
