ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Once again, the Erie Otters have a young star forward.

Alex DeBrincat scored five times to power Erie past the Niagara IceDogs 6-1 on Thursday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Jake Marchment had the other goal for the Otters (3-0-0). Top draft picks Connor McDavid and Dylan Strome both played for Erie last season.

Devin Williams made 23 saves for the win.

Johnny Corneil replied for Niagara (1-2-0), while Brent Moran stopped 23 shots.

RANGERS 4 BATTALION 2

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Mason Kohn had the eventual winner as Kitchener skated past the Battalion.

Nick Magyar, Connor Bunnaman and David Miller also scored as the Rangers (1-0-1) built a 4-0 lead.

Miles Liberati and Brett McKenzie responded for North Bay (0-3-0).

STEELHEADS 6 PETES 1

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Michael McLeod and Alexander Nylander both scored and added two assists as Mississauga topped the Petes.

Captain Josh Burnside, Daniel Muzito-Bagenda, Damian Bourne and Nathan Bastian rounded out the scoring for the Steelheads (2-0-1).

Jonathan Ang had the lone goal for Peterborough (2-1-0).

WINDSOR, Ont. — Cristiano DiGiacinto had the eventual winner in the first period and added an assist as the Spitfires flew past Saginaw.

Defenceman Jalen Chatfield added a power-play goal in the last 11 seconds of play for Windsor (2-0-1), while Gabriel Vilardi, Luke Kirwan, Anthony Stefano, Bradley Latour and Aaron Luchuk rounded out the attack.

Jesse Barwell scored in the second period for the Spirit (0-2-1).
