LONDON, Ont. - The Erie Otters are one step closer to the Memorial Cup.

Connor McDavid and Dylan Strome had a goal and an assist apiece, and the Otters turned a close game into a rout with three third-period goals to beat London 5-2 and sweep the Knights in four games in their Ontario Hockey League playoff series.

McDavid assisted on Strome's goal in the second period and added an empty-netter late in the third as the Otters advanced to the Western Conference final.

Kyle Maksimovich, Taylor Raddysh and Travis Dermott also scored for Erie. Devin Williams stopped 35 shots.

Max Domi and Julius Bergman supplied the offence for the Knights while Michael Giugovaz made 41 saves.

Neither team scored on the power play. The Otters were 0 for 3 and London went 0 for 4.

Erie will play Sault Ste. Marie in the conference final.

GREYHOUNDS 3 STORM 2

GUELPH, Ont. — Sault Ste. Marie scored three times in the second period, then staved off a late comeback attempt to sweep the Storm in four straight games and advance to the Western Conference final.

Bryan Moore and Nick Ritchie had a goal and an assist apiece and Jared McCann also scored as the Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 with goals seven minutes apart in the middle frame.

Pius Suter scored twice for Guelph, including a short-handed goal 1:27 into the third period to cut the Storm's deficit to one.

ICEDOGS 7 GENERALS 3

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Billy Jenkins scored three times and Carter Verhaeghe had a goal and two assists as the IceDogs powered past Oshawa in Game 3 for their first win of the series.

Aleksandar Mikulovich scored once and set up two other goals for Niagara, which hosts Game 4 on Thursday. Brendan Perlini scored on a power play and Mikkel Aagaard chipped in with a short-handed empty-netter.

Josh Brown, while shorthanded, Tobias Lindberg and Aidan Wallace scored for the Generals, who hold a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven, second-round set.

BATTALION 4 COLTS 2

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Jake Smith made 13 saves and Ryan Kujawinki had a goal and an assist as the Battalion took a 2-1 lead over Barrie in their second-round series.

Ray Huether, Brenden Miller and Nick Moutrey also scored for North Bay, which hosts Game 4 on Thursday.

Joseph Blandisi scored on and set up another for the Colts. Justin Scott rounded out the attack.
