The Edmonton Oilers will be without defenceman Andrej Sekera for the remainder of their Western Conference semifinal against the Anaheim Ducks.

Head coach Todd McLellan made the announcement on Sunday ahead of Game 6 at Rogers Place.

Sekera, 30, left Game 5 in the first period on Friday after incurring an undisclosed injury upon a hard hit into the boards by Ryan Getzlaf. He did not return.

When Oscar Klefbom briefly left Game 5 after blocking a shot (he would return), McLellan was forced to use Benoit Pouliot on the blue line with only four healthy defenceman.

In 11 playoff contests, Sekera has a goal and two assists. His 21:10 of ice time per night is fourth among Oilers rearguards.

The Ducks lead the best-of-seven series 3-2.

In Ducks team news, head coach Randy Carlyle said that defenceman Kevin Bieksa (LBI) and winger Ondrej Kase (UBI) are both available for Game 6.

Forward Patrick Eaves (LBI) misses his third straight contest.
