Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid is confident the Edmonton Oilers won't have more showings like their 7-0 loss to the San Jose Sharks in Game 4.

The Sharks tied the best-of-seven series at two on Tuesday night and were in control from the start, beating Cam Talbot for the game's first goal 15 seconds after puck-drop.

"We were bad tonight, obviously," McDavid said after the loss. "That's not our team, that's not our game. We haven't played like that all year. It's a one-off. We take the game tape and throw it away.”

Cam Talbot made a total of 39 saves in back-to-back shutouts in Games 2 and 3 but was pulled after allowing five goals on 24 shots Tuesday night.

Talbot, like the team's captain, wanted to move past the loss as quickly as possible.

"It's already forgotten in my mind," Talbot said. "I've had some time to let it go already. Just go through my process and let it go and be ready Thursday."

Oilers head coach Todd McLellan said was not as quick to dismiss the loss, hoping his team could grow from the 7-0 blowout.

"Tonight was a big lesson to learn," McLellan said, per NHL.com. "That just proves to our group that teams can get to another level. The momentum right off the bat was real important. Undisciplined play especially catches up with you. Tonight was their night finally."

Among the undisciplined play was Leon Draisaitl's spear on Chris Tierny, which gave the Sharks a five-minute power play already up 5-0 in the second period.

Now, the Oilers head back to Edmonton for the first game of what is now a best-of-three series on Thursday night.

“We came in here, we established home ice and now it’s best of three,” Talbot told the Edmonton Sun. “It doesn’t matter if it’s 1-0 or 7-0, the series is 2-2 and now we’re heading home to play in front of our fans.”
