EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Ostap Safin to a three-year entry-level contract.

Safin, 19, has appeared in 56 games with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Saint John Sea Dogs this season, posting 53 points (24 goals, 29 assists) and 29 penalty minutes.

The six-foot-five, 191-pound forward leads Saint John in points, goals and assists in his first season in the QMJHL.

Safin, from Prague, appeared in seven games for the Czech Republic at the 2018 world junior hockey championship, recording one goal, two assists and six penalty minutes.

Safin was selected by the Oilers in the fourth round, 115th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft.
