Edmonton Oilers 2015 seventh-round pick Ziyat Paigin cleared uncoditional waivers on Wednesday, allowing the team to terminate his contract.

Paigin, 22, posted no points and was minus-2 in seven games with the Bakersfield Condors this season.

The defenceman joined the Condors for five games last season after playing 17 games with the Kazan Ak-Bars of the KHL.

Paigin is expected to return to Russia.

He is the second player this week to have is contract terminated. The Vancouver Canucks did the same with forward Anton Rodin on Tuesday.
