Canada has already had two close calls for medals on the luge track in Sochi. Those fourth-place finishers will join forces on Thursday, trying once again to climb onto the podium in the new Olympic sport of luge team relay.

Women's slider Alex Gough, men's slider Sam Edney, and the doubles pair of Justin Snith and Tristan Walker will compete for Canada in the event's Olympic debut at the Sanki Sliding Center.

Both Gough and the doubles team came in fourth in their respective events and spoke after their races about ignoring the disappointment of missing out on a medal by mere fractions of a second, concentrating on this race instead.

The Canadians, all hailing from Calgary except for Walker, who is from nearby Cochrane, Alta., had plenty of success on the World Cup circuit in team relay this past season, picking up four silver medals in six attempts.

The event will get underway at 11:15 a.m. ET, with the Canadians set to start second-last.
