Freestyle skier Groenewoud qualifies for halfpipe final

KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia - Canada's Rosalind Groenewoud is moving on to the final of the women's ski halfpipe at the Sochi Games.

The freestyle skier from Calgary finished sixth in the qualification round with a total of 82.00 points.

Groenewoud won a silver medal at the X Games last month, just over five weeks after undergoing double knee surgery.

The 2011 world champion is expected to be in the mix for a podium spot when action resumes later today at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park.

Marie Martinod of France took top spot in the qualification round with 88.40 points, followed by Americans Brita Sigourney (87.00)and Maddie Bowman (85.60).

Edmonton's Keltie Hansen was 13th with 66.20 points, missing the cut for the final round by just four points.
