LeGarrette Blount is returning to the New England Patriots.

The team announced on Thursday that the 27-year-old had returned to the team after being waived on Tuesday by the Pittsburgh Steelers. ESPN's Mike Reiss reports that the deal is for two years and worth the veteran minimum plus incentives.

Unhappy with his playing time with Le'Veon Bell receiving a majority of carries, Blount attempted to leave the stadium before the Steelers' 27-23 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Monday night was even over.

Blount spent last season with the Pats, rushing for nearly 800 yards. He ran for four touchdowns in a January rout of the Indianapolis Colts.

He joins a backfield that features Jonas Gray, who ran for four touchdowns of his own on Sunday night against the Colts, along with Shane Vereen and Brandon Bolden.

The Patriots are next in action on Sunday when they host the Detroit Lions.
