The New England Patriots have quickly climbed to the number one spot in the TSN.ca NFL Power Rankings, ahead of the Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers.

Although the defending champions had something of a tumultuous offseason, they've opened the season with two impressive victories, most recently with QB Tom Brady throwing for 466 yards at Buffalo.

Big movers this week include the Arizona Cardinals, vaulting from 16 to six after blowing out the Bears, the Atlanta Falcons rising to nine from 19 after a comeback win against the Giants, and the New York Jets, going from 20 to 11 after a strong road win at Indianapolis.

Falling this week, the New Orleans Saints crash from 18 to 30 after losing a game and possibly having QB Drew Brees miss some time. The stumbling Philadelphia Eagles slide from 17 to 22 and the Detroit Lions drop from 14 to 24.

That didn't take long. The Patriots raced out to a 37-13 lead at Buffalo before the Bills made a late charge to make the game more competitive, but when Tom Brady throws for 466 yards against a vaunted Bills defence, New England looks as good as any team through two weeks.

This has been an unusual start for a Peyton Manning team, averaging the fewest yards per game through the first two weeks, but while the Broncos wait on the offensive line to gel, their defence can get after it and sparked the win at Kansas City.

An impressive home win against Seattle still ends up with the Packers sliding down a spot because of an injury to RB Eddie Lacy. Maybe just keep the ball in the hands of QB Aaron Rodgers who, since the start of last season, has thrown 43 touchdowns and five interceptions.

After obliterating the 49ers, jumping out to a 29-3 halftime lead, the Steelers showed the kind of offence that makes them so dangerous this season, and should only be better now that RB Le'Veon Bell is coming off suspension. The maligned defence was led by second-year ILB Ryan Shazier, who had 15 tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss.

With workhorse RB Jeremy Hill fumbling twice, the Bengals turned to Gio Bernard, who rolled up 139 yards on 23 touches in the win over San Diego. It's a sign of the strength of Cincinnati's offence that they have options that can be so productive.

It's hard to know just how good the Cardinals are, because the Saints and Bears haven't been strong opposition, but a healthy Carson Palmer gives their offence a shot in the arm -- it's also kicked WR Larry Fitzgerald into gear after several seasons of declining production.

Now that the Seahawks are 0-2, SS Kam Chancellor has ended his holdout, but it's not merely the presence of a big hitter in the secondary that will sort out the Seahawks' issues. First up should be figuring out how to effectively use TE Jimmy Graham, because he's been under-utilized to this point.

Dallas has been impressive in two wins, but that injury list is getting longer and it's going to be interesting to see whether they can move the ball, with either Brandon Weeden (at least initially) or Matt Cassel filling in for Tony Romo at quarterback. Buffalo's rally against New England, which ultimately fell short, may have been in part because the Patriots had built such a comfortable lead, but it was heartening to see the Bills offence move the ball better than expected. Expectations were decidely higher for the Colts coming into the season, but it's hard to have a reasonable evaluation for a team that can't hang onto the football. It probably comes as little solace, but the Giants could very easily be 2-0, blowing fourth-quarter leads in back-to-back games. Also, it was encouraging that WR Odell Beckham Jr. (7 REC, 146 YDS, 1 TD) got loose against Atlanta. The G-Men need more of that.
