St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Phillies will have third baseman Cody Asche available when the team continues its series with the St. Louis Cardinals Friday at Busch Stadium.

The Phillies activated Asche from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's contest, with infielder Reid Brignac placed on the DL after exiting Thursday's game against the Cardinals with a sprained left ankle.

Asche, who had been sidelined since May 22 by a strained left hamstring, pronounced himself ready to return by going 5-for-6 with a home run and four RBI in rehab games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The 23-year-old is hitting .258 with four homers and 18 RBI over 40 games thus far during his first full major league season.

Brignac turned his ankle while stepping on the first-base bag as he ran out a ground ball during the fifth inning of Thursday's 4-1 win over St. Louis.

The utilityman had received the majority of starts at third base during Asche's absence and owns a .258 average with one homer and 10 RBI in 24 games this season.
