(SportsNetwork.com) - Rookie David Buchanan tries to win his third consecutive start when the Philadelphia Phillies continue their four-game series against the Miami Marlins tonight at Citizens Bank Park.

Buchanan threw a career-high 7 2/3 innings in a 4-1 win at St. Louis Thursday. He allowed four hits and a run while throwing 105 pitches.

"He rose to the occasion and I think he has that kind of makeup and that kind of character," Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said of Buchanan.

This will be his first time facing Miami.

Andrew Heaney, who makes his second major league start, counters for the Marlins. The 23-year-old lefty was impressive last Thursday in a 1-0 loss to the Mets. He tossed six strong innings, allowing just the one run on four hits.

"You don't know how you're going to react when you're out there," Heaney said. "First few innings just kind of a little antsy, quick to the plate. I had to calm down, slow down and just trust myself."

Widely considered Miami's top minor league prospect, Heaney compiled a 3-0 record with a 2.74 ERA in four starts with Triple-A New Orleans this season after an early promotion from Double-A.

Last night, Nathan Eovaldi tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings and the Marlins plated two in the first inning and two in the ninth for a 4-0 win. Eovaldi (5-3) allowed just six hits and a walk to help steady the Marlins, who had lost four of five. Four Miami relievers preserved the shutout with 2 2/3 no- hit innings.

"Eovaldi threw the ball well tonight," Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard said. "We had hits, we just didn't have hits with runners in scoring position."

Casey McGehee and Derek Dietrich each went 2-for-5, with McGehee providing the early fireworks with a two-run double in the top of the first to give Eovaldi an early lead. Dietrich and Reed Johnson drove in the other runs.

McGehee currently owns a 14-game road hitting streak.

Roberto Hernandez (3-6) struck out six in six innings of work for Philadelphia, allowing two runs on three hits. The highlight of Hernandez's night was his first career hit, a single to right in his first at-bat.

Cody Asche had three of the six Phillies hits.

Philadelphia leads the season series, 4-3. The Phillies have beaten the Marlins eight of 10 and 13 of the last 17 times the teams have played at Citizens Bank Park. That includes a three-game sweep from April 11-13.
