Season So Far

The pairing of Rachel Homan and Val Sweeting has the making of a pretty good curling rivalry for years to come. Both Homan and Sweeting are young, talented skips in charge of equally talented rinks. Not to mention the storyline of Joanne Courtney leaving Team Sweeting for Team Homan in the off-season and the intrigue added to the matchup because of it. Homan has appeared in seven tournaments on the World Curling Tour, but has yet to win. The 25-year-old was bested by Sweeting at the semi-finals of the Masters of Curling, 4-3, and the final of the Canada Cup, 6-3, so far this season. She also lost in the final of the Canadian Open to Eve Muirhead.

Season So Far

Val Sweeting is quickly making a name for herself in the curling world as a skip that can win any tournament she plays in. Last season was a surprising success for the 27-year-old mother and her Edmonton rink as they qualified for the Canadian Olympic Trials and made the Scotties final. When Sweeting lost her best player, Joanne Courtney, in the off-season many thought they'd take a step back. Instead they've improved. Lori Olson-Johns has stepped in to play vice and the team has taken both the Masters of Curling and Canada Cup so far this season. Sweeting may have one of the quieter demeanors on tour, but seems to always make the clutch shots when her team needs her to.

Jennifer Jones vs Chelsea Carey - Jan 17 at 4pm et/1pm pt

Season So Far

There has been no Olympic hangover for Jennifer Jones and her Winnipeg rink. The gold-medal winning foursome has won an impressive three tournaments so far in 2014-15 and sits first on both the World Curling Tour Money List and the Canadian Team Ranking System. Jones had a somewhat disappointing outing at the Canada Cup as she posted a .500 record of 3-3 and failed to advance to the playoff round. She will be the favourite to beat Chelsea Carey at the Pinty's All-Star Curling Skins Game.

Chelsea Carey
Team Carey (Edmonton, AB)

Lead: Jen Gates Second: Taylor McDonald Third: Laura Crocker Skip: Chelsea Carey

Season So Far

Chelsea Carey and her new-look rink are having a pretty good season despite being together for only a few months. The 30-year-old made the move from Manitoba to Alberta in the off-season and joined 24-year-old Laura Crocker as well as a young front end duo of Jen Gates, 24, and Taylor McDonald, 21, with the hopes of appearing in the Olympics in 2018. They've won two tournaments this season - the HDF Insurance Shoot-Out and the Boundary Ford Curling Classic - and could be a top rink in the game in the near future.
