Before the biggest moments, most amazing comebacks and blunders that we remember throughout sports history, there was probably a spirited and beautiful rendition of the national anthem or anthems.

However, on rare nights, the anthem itself becomes the biggest story when words are forgotten, a different melody is performed or something even worse happens.

For singer Mark Donnelly that moment happened at the Penticton Vees home opener when he tripped over a red carpet while skating around singing the Canadian anthem.  Donnelly let the crowd take over, which he usually does, before finishing strong at the end.

Caroline Marcil on the other hand, suffered her moment while singing The Star-Spangled Banner before a 2004 exhibition Canada-US hockey game.  The Quebec singer forgot the words and left the ice before slipping and falling while attempting to return and finish the American anthem.

Both memorable moments, but which one do you prefer?
