The NHL Play of the Year showdown continues today with a pair of unbelievable efforts.

The first match-up of the Round of 16 pits Russian sniper Vladamir Tarasenko of the St. Louis Blues against the talented Kyle Turris of the Ottawa Senators.

Tarasenko enjoyed a breakout 2014-15 campaign by topping the 35-goal plateau, but it was his unbelievable dangles and finishing touch that earned him the spotlight.

The Russian dropped jaws all over Madison Square Garden by taking the puck just over centre and walking through four Rangers defenders to break in alone. As if splitting two pairs, Tarasenko dangled an unbelievable finish right around a stretched Cam Talbot.

Turris made himself the decoy by blinding the opposition with fancy stickwork.

The Ottawa Senators centre busted into the Carolina zone and tow-dragged around defenceman Ryan Murphy to set up what seemed like a golden one-on-one scoring chance. However, once the Canes’ defence turned their attention towards the streaking Turris, he backhanded a perfect tape-to-tape pass and found Mark Stone in the slot for the one-time finish.

Tarasenko defeated Brooks Laich while Turris bettered John Tavares in the first round.
