The Nashville Predators have come to terms on a new deal with restricted free agent defenceman Ryan Ellis.

TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie reports that the deal is for five years and worth $12.5 million.

TSN Pierre LeBrun adds that Ellis will be paid $1.5 million in the first season, $2 million in the second, $2.5 million in the third, $3 million in the fourth and $3.5 million in the final year.

A native of Freelton, Ontario, Ellis was the 11th-overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The 23-year-old played in his first full NHL season last year, appearing in 80 games and registering six goals and 21 assists.

Ellis has represented Canada four times at the World Junior Hockey Championships, winning a gold medal in 2009.
