TORONTO - David Price will make his first start with the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday, barring any more unforeseen hiccups.

Price's tenure with the Blue Jays literally got off to a bumpy start Friday when his car blew out a tire on his drive from Detroit to Toronto. The entire episode played out on Twitter, with Price providing the blow-by-blow.

Toronto's new ace was driving in Chesterfield, Mich., north of Detroit, when the dashboard on his Jaguar XJR told him he had a flat tire.

"I didn't feel it, it didn't jerk me either way or anything crazy like that," Price said after the Blue Jays' 7-6 comeback victory against the Kansas City Royals. "Nobody was around me, so it was probably the best-case scenario."

When he was told he couldn't get all the way to Toronto on his spare tire, Price tried to get a new one at Discount Tires.

"They didn't have a tire to fit my back tire, and then I had to just sit in a Target parking lot and wait for the tow truck to come and wait for my ride to arrive," Price said.

The 29-year-old tweeted a photo of his car getting towed with the message: "Jenny got a busted lip but she will be just fine! Things can always be worse...find a positive in negative situations."

The negative was that Price couldn't throw his side session Thursday after being traded from the Tigers and then was delayed until after the game Friday night. The positive for the Blue Jays is that he'll debut against the Minnesota Twins on Monday afternoon and should get an extra start against the American League-East leading Yankees. He's expected to make 13 starts for Toronto if he stays healthy.

Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey will start on short rest Sunday against the Royals.

The Blue Jays acquired Price from the Tigers in a trade that included top pitching prospect Daniel Norris and two others going to Detroit.

Price is 7-0 in nine career starts at Rogers Centre. Maybe it's the popcorn.

"All I'm asking for from @bluejays is to have the BIGGEST trashbag of popcorn waiting for me at my locker!" Price tweeted after the trade. "Best popcorn EVER."

The Blue Jays obliged, tweeting a photo of Price's locker stocked with popcorn and a card welcoming him to Toronto.

"He asked for it," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said. "You guys saw the tweet. A lot of times players ask for things. Within what we could pull off, popcorn's very doable."

Price then raved about the popcorn on his arrival and was even fine with teammates eating some before he arrived.

"This is the best popcorn I've ever had," the 2012 Cy Young Award winner said. "I get it every time I come here in big bags full."
